An all-star collective of some of the country’s finest string players is assembled for the festival, and in this coffee concert we showcase two of them. Schubert’s soulful ‘Arpeggione’ Sonata holds a unique place in the chamber music repertoire; it is paired with James MacMillan’s haunting and dramatic Cello Sonata No 1, infused with the music of the Highlands.
